I bought my very first nail art stripers on ebay, just because it was cheap and i just wanted to find out for myself if i really liked doing nail art. (If you go to ebay and type in search: Nail Art Stripers)
But then i realized that i loved it and the cheap stripers were not amazingly good.

and is art deco the only good kind of stripers?

No i'm sure that they are not the only good stripers around. I'm using FlexBrush myself and they are not too bad, but i guess all stripers get thick after lot of use.
